UNA PENA Y UN AMOR reúne diez autorretratos construidos alrededor de dos gestos: el luto y la boda.
La primera parte nace de la pérdida: una figura cubierta por una tela negra se encoge progresivamente, hasta hacerse pequeña, casi desaparecer. Es el cuerpo atravesado por la pena, por aquello que duele y que, por un momento, parece ocuparlo todo.
La segunda parte transforma ese mismo cuerpo. Bajo un velo blanco, la figura se encuentra consigo misma y celebra una boda íntima, una unión que habla de amor, pero también de reconstrucción y resiliencia. No se trata tanto de superar el dolor como de aprender a habitarlo y, desde ahí, volver a elegirse.
La serie nace de un origen cercano al flamenco, a esa manera de entender la pena y el amor desde la entraña, desde un cuerpo que siente y resiste. Las figuras alargadas, veladas y casi fantasmales transitan entre lo ritual, lo íntimo y lo simbólico, como dos caras de una misma experiencia.
UNA PENA Y UN AMOR habla, en definitiva, de aquello que nos rompe y de aquello que, a pesar de todo, permanece. De cómo un cuerpo puede hacerse pequeño ante la pena y, aun así, encontrar la forma de volver a levantarse.
UNA PENA Y UN AMOR brings together ten self-portraits built around two gestures: mourning and marriage.
The first part is born from loss: a figure covered by a black cloth shrinks progressively, until it becomes small, almost disappearing. It is the body pierced by sorrow, by that which hurts and which, for a moment, seems to occupy everything.
The second part transforms that same body. Under a white veil, the figure meets herself and celebrates an intimate wedding, a union that speaks of love, but also of reconstruction and resilience. It is not so much a matter of overcoming pain as learning to live in it and, from there, choosing again.
The series is born from an origin close to Flamenco, in this way of understanding sorrow and love from within, from a body that feels and resists. The elongated, veiled and almost ghostly figures transit between the ritual, the intimate and the symbolic, as two faces of the same experience.
UNA PENA Y UN AMOR speaks, in the end, of what breaks us and of what, despite everything, remains. How a body can become small in the face of sorrow and still find a way to rise again.
