De l'autre côté de la mer (2024)
Watching and listening to the sea relaxes us, brings us into a meditative state. Its immensity brings us peace and tranquility, feelings of nostalgia and hope but also mystery and exploration. It seems to have no limits.
Oceans and seas cover 70% of the Earth’s surface, the same proportion of water in our bodies. Contemplating it connects us with a very intense and deep part of our being.
The Mediterranean Sea, sea in the middle of land, is one of the largest in the world. A unique enclave among civilizations, symbol of creativity and wisdom that has witnessed migratory movements and cultural and economic exchanges between East and West throughout the history of humanity to this day.
The horizon on the beaches confronts us towards the unknown. This mystery inspired many writers of the Mediterranean civilizations, heroes who performed in navigation their epic feats. Numerous works and poems describe with marine metaphors the dangers and wonders of life. That challenge, the journey and yearning to reach beyond the horizon also reminds us of the danger of dying trying to cross it.
Across the sea is a visual, anthropological and poetic essay between what it suggests and evokes people living on the shores of the northern and southern borders of the Mediterranean that intertwines in images, Textures and echoes of each shore that sail in both directions where the sea is a natural border but also an element of union.
